Lemon of De-Troy-t

For the past two days, @helmerroids and I have been discussing Red Wings hockey on Twitter using altered quotes from The Simpsons. Case in point:

It continued into today, and I finally got up the creative nerve to mash up The Simpsons episode "Lemon of Troy" with Red Wings hockey. Now, it's not going to be the episode in its entirety, but rather scenes that work with the Wings' situation right now.

This isn't supposed to make sense from scene to scene, though the characters stay the same. Just enjoy the nerdiness.

If you aren't a huge Simpsons nerd, you may not get much out of this. If you are and you love hockey...welcome, my new best friend(s). And enjoy "Lemon of De-Troy-t."

Red Wings Doodles!

Finally, I have a lazy Friday night where I can sit and draw Red Wings comics.

This semester of classes has been ridiculous. Let me tell you, if you take two online classes at the same time, and one of them is a Public Relations class that has ten-thousand projects in one semester, drop your social life. Seriously.

Anyway. I found myself ready and willing to draw comics on a Friday night where I had nothing else to do. Yeah, I spent a Friday night drawing comics - that's how cool I am (and when you have to get up at 5.30am for work the next morning, you don't really want to go out and do stuff).

All of the comic ideas I had are too intricate. So I asked Twitter what quick doodles they wanted to see. Here's what they came up with.

You guys know the drill - click on it to make them larger.

Homer brought Hudler some food while he was sick...

Party Pavel is not made of Party.

And there was a video on Red Wings TV at the start of Lent asking players what they would never be able to give up. Kronwall said oatmeal and Zetterberg cut in with how he eats it like...six times a day.

Math Class With Dr. Kronwall

In honor of Niklas Kronwall's 30th birthday, I'm posting this comic I drew about Kronwall. I drew it in response to meeting him in person while he was wearing his glasses and how they made him look like a math teacher.

Without further ado, here is "Math Class With Dr. Kronwall."

Happy Thanksgiving

This Red Wings comic is actually from last year, so I suppose I'm cheating, not having drawn one for this year, but too bad.

This is going old school, back before I got a tablet and started doing fancy things, so it's all hand-drawn. And not even colored, because I was lazy.

So if you can recall at this point last year, we had about sixteen of our players injured, including both Kronwall and Franzen. In an article last year in the Free Press, there was the quote of "Johan Franzen plans to cook a turkey for the first time, with or without the help of Niklas Kronwall," that spawned this comic.

I present to you "Cooking Lessons with Johan Franzen and Niklas Kronwall (Thanksgiving Dinner)."

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Kronwalling We Will Go

I'm still standing by my guarantee:

Within five minutes of today's game, Shane Doan is going to find himself Kronwalled.

Do I need to say anything else? No. A thorough Kronwalling is all we need to kick this series into overdrive and in our favor. Let's go Red Wings.

There Will Be Kronwalling

I know everyone's waiting for Kronwall to kill Shane Doan tomorrow night. But here's what I'm thinking: he's not going to lay on a massive, leveling hit until he's on home ice.

Think about it. Phoenix was physically outplaying almost all of our players last night and the crowd was going crazy after every single one. Stuart laid on one hard, clean hit, and they were booing him like there was no tomorrow. I'm sure Kronner would rather have his coma-inducing hit followed by excited cheers and screams at the Joe rather than the angry [though somewhat confused] boos of the Phoenix crowd.

I guarantee you this: if there is no Kronwalling tomorrow night on Shane Doan, within the first five minutes of game three, Doan will be sprawled out on the ice, staring up at the banner-filled rafters with dazed eyes, and Kronwall will be skating away, surrounded by the jovial applause from Wings fans all around the Metro Detroit area.

Besides, don't we all want to see it done on home turf?
